Kings of War: Vanguard Shipping Has Started!

Ho! Vanguardians,

We're delighted to say that the shipping process for Kings of War: Vanguard has now started. If you've provided the correct contact details, you'll soon be getting a notification that your pledge has been shipped. Look out for a notification from either FedEx or Parcelforce for more details.

We're expecting the shipping process to take around 10 days, so don't worry if you don't hear something immediately. Also, if you only opted for the Rulebook Pledge, you won't receive a shipping notification as that's being sent via Royal Mail.

To give you a little insight into the mighty task of shipping the Vanguard Kickstarter, Ronnie filmed the video below:

Shipping starts this week! Plus free rules available to download!

Hi Vanguardians,

A couple of exciting things to update you on today. Firstly, shipping will start from this Friday (12th October). The warehouse is currently busy picking and packing all the orders, which is an epic task! To give you some scope of the scale, we've had to make more than 80,000 resin miniatures for the Kickstarter.

We'll have another update on Friday to let you officially know that shipping has started and give you an idea of when you can expect to receive your pledge. The majority of orders are being sent via courier, which normally take a few days to arrive - so most backers should have their pledges within a couple of weeks.

FREE RULES

Also, today we released the free rules for Vanguard, which you can download from here. Bear in mind these aren't the full rules you'll be getting in your pledges. Your Kickstarter exclusive books will include all 12 scenarios, campaign rules, advanced spells, etc.

However, the free rules are a great opportunity to familiarise yourself with the basics while you get ready for your mountain of plastic/resin to arrive in the next couple of weeks.

The warband lists currently available are the core Mantic armies - e.g. Basileans, Nightstalkers, etc. As promised during the Kickstarter we'll also be releasing the warband lists for the Uncharted Empires armies, e.g. Varangur, Salamanders, etc. These are currently in final testing. These lists will be available as a PDF from the Mantic website and we'll let you know once they're available.

Just a quick update. Earlier today we locked down addresses for shipping so we can create our shipping database. Unfortunately when we locked down the addresses via Backerkit, it automatically generated an email asking people to update their address. PLEASE IGNORE THE NOTIFICATION FROM BACKERKIT.

If you need to amend your shipping address, please email [email protected] with your new details. Please do NOT amend your details via Backerkit.

Ho! Vanguardians,

As you may have noticed we're starting a big push on Kings of War: Vanguard, ready for the retail launch in late October. Over the next month we'll be going through the rules again on the blog, filming some videos, showing off painted miniatures and lots more. Perfect to get you up to speed for the Kickstarter delivery and ensure the wider gaming community is eagerly anticipating the launch too.

Pre-orders on the Mantic website are live now, however these will not start shipping until after October 22nd. This will be after we have shipped all the Kickstarter pledges from the warehouse.

Talking of shipping, please make sure that we have your correct shipping address on our system. If you have moved since the pledge manager closed earlier this year, please email your new details to [email protected] to make sure we've got the correct one.

Shipping update and rulebook preview

Ho! Vanguardians,

So, there's a little bit of bad news today. We were hoping that the Vanguard Kickstarter items would be with us towards the end of this month. However, we've had an update from the manufacturer that some items were delayed, which has pushed the timeline back slightly... but only by a couple of weeks.

The new estimated date for us to start shipping is October 15th and we expect to be finished within a couple of weeks. This means that everything should be out of the door by the end of October, which is ahead of the November shipping date we estimated on the Kickstarter. Sorry about the slight delay but luckily it's only a couple of weeks, and we're still ahead of schedule overall.

However, it's not all bad news. The rulebook is currently being printed and - even if we do say so - it's one of the most beautiful rulebooks we've produced. The Vanguard rulebook is 160 pages long (that's an extra 32 pages than we predicted during the Kickstarter) and has rules for one-off games, basic spells, advanced spells, 12 scenarios, starter warbands... the list goes on.

It's easily comparable with the hardback Kings of War rulebook in terms of depth. Vanguard is a game we want to be around for a long time and a lot of very hard work has gone into producing this rulebook. Thanks to all those members of the community that helped with playtesting.

Perhaps one of the most exciting elements is the incredibly detailed campaign system. Author Matt Gilbert has done an amazing job on creating a rich campaign mode that will see your fighters grow over time. The campaign section alone is 28 pages and will give you an opportunity to create your own warband and tell their story through a series of fantastic interlinked games.

As we approach the launch of Vanguard, make sure you keep checking the Mantic Blog because we'll have more than a month's worth of detailed Vanguard coverage - showing how it ties into and supports Kings of War, what new units it's helping to create for KoW, how a campaign works and lots, lots more. This is one of our biggest releases ever and we're extremely excited about it.
